South Devon Vegetarian
Restaurants
Dartington - Totnes - Cranks Restaurant
Dartington Cider Press Centre is an
entertaining place to visit with many attractions on a rainy day in
the South Hams (and a sunny one, too!) This is a very different
visitor and craft centre, located in the beautiful countryside, a
couple of miles from the charming town of Totnes. With wonderfully
restored stone buildings, modelled on a small village, this craft
centre houses twelve high quality shops and two cafes and restaurants.
You can choose from Dartington Crystal, hand thrown pottery, books,
special kitchenware, artisan jewellery, home made stationery,
delicious farm foods, toys, plants, very traditional crafts and
Dartington Cider. At holiday times watch out for free street theatre,
ranging from jugglers and skilled unicyclists to lively jazz bands and
even Paraguayan harpists. And you may be lucky enough to see a special
exhibition or a wonderful food and cider tasting. Cranks Restaurant
offers excellent vegetarian food, or you can visit Muffins for a light
meal.
Located in the Craft complex, this craft complex and
cafe is a big tourist attraction and likely to be crowded. It is,
however, entirely vegetarian and the standard is pretty good. Spend
the day visiting the delightful shops and take a break for food -
there's a wide choice, and it's all good.
Open all year
around, Monday - Saturday, 9.30 am - 5.30 pm, Sunday 10.30 am -
4.30 pm. Cider Press Centre, Dartington, Totnes, TQ9 6JB
