Cadbury, Exeter - Fursdon Fursdon is an ancient manor house located in beautiful Devon countryside. The Fursdon family have lived here since 1259, and the house is a much loved family home. The grounds are open to holiday guests who may walk around as they wish.

Only 25 minutes from the centre of Exeter and only 15 minutes from Tiverton, Fursdon offers access to these charming towns while lying right in the heart of the countryside. Walks include a footpath to the intriguing Cadbury Castle, an Iron Age fort of great historical significance, only half a mile away with some wonderful views. Fursdon is a great place from which to explore the whole of Devon.

This charming cottage is the epitome of village life, and offers comfortably furnished and extensive accommodation over two floors for up to five people. Near Barnstaple - Lerwell Farm and Furze Cross Cottages

Lerwell Farm is located in the best of the North Devon countryside about one mile from the delightful village of Chittlehampton, which is a conservation area full of picturesque thatched cottages. The thatched farmhouse is itself a Grade II listed building. The barns around the farm fell into disuse over the years until Mike and Sue, into whose ownership the farm passed in December 2002, began a programme of conversion into holiday accommodation. The last barn to be finished was the Granary in 2005. The conversion has been done sensitively, with modern features added to the charm of the natural stone buildings. The beams, vaulted ceilings and external stonework have all been retained.

Oriel Cottage, which sleeps four or five, and House Martins, which sleeps six, are superbly converted from old farm outbuildings, giving a peaceful and quiet location, yet so near the superbly scenic coast that you can walk there in a mere fifteen minutes. The cottages lend themselves to long walks, log fires, watching wildlife, enjoying wild flowers, star-gazing and other simple pleasures: however the accommodation is anything but simple, being superbly furnished and fitted out with all the modern conveniences you could wish for. Even better, there are over ten acres of fields and woods to roam around, a large garden, secluded woodland, and a secret pond fringed by ferns and wild plants. You may see - or hear -  owls and falcons, along with many other local species of birds, while deer roam the hills and swallows and house-martins flit around continually during summer. This is a beautiful place.

Combe Martin - Watermouth Cove Cottages

At Watermouth Cove there is a charming group of eight self-catering cottages, which were once the coach house and stables associated with Watermouth Castle, but which were converted to holiday accommodation three decades ago. Located just beside the castle and only a short stroll from the harbour, these delightful cottages are set in the midst of woodland and the superb Devon countryside. You get the best of both the seaside and the beach resorts of Ilfracombe and Combe Martin, with a large choice of inns and restaurants serving superb local food. If you want to try surfing, the beaches of Woolacombe are close at hand, as are the beaches of Saunton Sands and Croyde bay. The cottages are located right on the edge of the Exmoor national park, while an hour's drive will get you to delightful resorts of Bude, Minehead and Torquay. And even better, it's only two hours to the Eden Project and The Gardens of Heligan.
