Okehampton - Lewtrenchard Manor
A
Jacobean Manor house in its own secret hollow lying below the wild tors of Dartmoor, Lewtrenchard
is more or less untouched by the passage of time. Dating from the early 1600’s,
the house is grand, yet still extremely welcoming. Each of the historic bedrooms has
an individual character, such as oak panelling, or exquisite
ornamental plasterwork, or sumptuous fabrics, or amazing antique
furniture - and wonderful views over the garden and parks. All the
rooms have the same special touches
– freshly cut flowers, soft robes, fresh fruit and tempting
shortbreads, cookies and chocolate biscuits. These rooms offer the
chance to totally unwind, soak in a big bath or enjoy a
leisurely breakfast. And the modern bedrooms at Lewtrenchard are
exquisitely designed: centuries-old oak doorways lead to spacious
warm suites and superior rooms
enhanced by the very best in contemporary design; fabulous four poster and sleigh
beds, luxury bathrooms
which are delightfully
contemporary and extremely spacious, with wonderful views of cloister,
fountain and gardens.
Jason Hornbuckle, one of the UK’s best award-winning chefs, offers
diners an experience unequalled in the whole region. Food is meticulously prepared and
superbly presented; the
quality of the cooking attracts many non-residents, who enjoy the
cheerful and relaxed atmosphere, not to mention the excellent and
comprehensive wine cellar, which stocks modestly priced wine from
all over the world.
